Nothing but happy faces to be seen at the WelchAllyn Announcements Meeting which partook this afternoon. The team overcame their difficult past seasons and managed to perform above all expectations.
The season started strong with Paaps finishing second place at the Budapest Meeting Point, where his friend Donald 'Donny' Ruiter managed to get a trophy a few seasons ago. This while also winning Beauvais-Amiens and ending strong at Rüdnyy-Rüdnny and Greenville Cobble.
These achievements proved he's a worthy successor to Donald, who is taking a more supportive and mentorlike role upon him in this stage of his carreer.
Our cobble head honcho is not alone though, as fiery icy winds from Iceland brought the power of Fylkir Solbjartursson and gave him the resilience to snag two victories at Confronto no Largo de Senado and Sonder Tranders GP, while also getting a commendable second place at the Brooklyn and Manhattan debut.
Together Fylkir and Kristiaan will head the renewed and young cobble team, while new recruits are already in training to assist them. One of them is Isidre Badenes of Andorra, who even dared to get a third spot at Maseru-Berea.
But WelchAllyn is no longer only about cobbles, WelchAllyn manager Freddy mentions, while bringing forth the golden goose: Pepillo Balbao, the wonderchild from the Canary Islands.
'This wonderful man managed to not only score two stages of the Cesko-Slovensky Pohar Cup, but also managed to win overall and gather our second trophee! It comes to no surprise at all to me and his teammates: he has been preparing himself for months for these kind of rides and his persistance showed he's more than able to deliver!'
Furthermore Vance Sollee was called upon the stage for his victory at the Stachanov Street Race.
'The team reached new heights this season, scoring us the most wins (6) and results (12) of any seasons we've competed in. This enabled us to reach 910 OCM points and finally made us reach Division 3.'
It comes to no surprise WelchAllyn will try to hold on to this division, as they're preparing themselves as defendants in Budapest Meeting Point and the Cesko-Slovensky Pohar Cup. In the meantime they will be adding a new Macedonian recruit to their ranks and training shall continue on youngsters like Constantin Beccari and Xander Kottan, again small nation riders.
'A happy season, a happy day' concluded Freddy, who was already getting up to attend many of the parties at the COVID-free bars.
